Yup we just came back from our 1 week trip to Portugal!
Trip to Portugal
It was a pretty cool trip so I thought I'd share some pictures with you guys (you can click on the thumbnails to zoom in the pictures). We walked a lot but also relaxed (that's what vacations are for
) , we were really lucky that the weather was perfect
We mainly stayed in the pretty city of Porto, were we strolled along the Ribiera street, took pictures at the huge avenue along the Praça Dom Henrique, admired the azulejos (the blue painted tiles) at the station Sao Bento and saw the infamous library of Lello & Irmao. For the Harry Potter hardcore fans, the Lello & Irmao library was one of the main inspirations of J. K. Rowlings, we actually didn't visit it (there were waaaay too much queue and we had other stuff to see) but I a picture of the building:
Then we traveled to the capital, Lisbonne. We didn't really plan were to go that time but I got some nice photos of the commercial square, the Marques de Pombal statue and the Lisboa Oriente train station (I like its design):
As we expected the food was really cheap but the servings were twice bigger than in France! For instance, this dish of ailhera (a kind of sausage filled with chicken meat, bread and garlic) with lots of rice, french fries and salad only cost 5 euros!! The plate was just a little smaller than the size of my 15" laptop so I really couldn't finish it even if we didn't eat in the morning! It was really delicious though
We also tried this fried bacalhau (cod fish) and cheese pasty (I remember one day we ate one of those and we were full for lunch, no need of dessert or anything else). And the classic and rich francesinha, which is like a revisited croque monsieur. We tasted many other things of course but I didn't always take a picture of it
And I keep the best for the last: the pastries. Cakes are my péché mignon, I've tasted many sweet pastries from many countries and I also had the opportunity to learn to bake cakes for my dear friends. I might not be complicated when it comes to eat food but in terms of sweets it's not easy to surprise me... That's when I had a taste of the infamous pastel de nata
from Lisbonne. It's a kind of puff pastry with cinnamon custard, I ate one hot and I ate another one the day after. I don't know what kind of magic Portuguese use for this but both were sooooooo good
the amount of cinnamon was perfect (that's not an easy task) and the texture was excellent! I really couldn't find anything bad to say about it so far... So I plan to learn to make these and master the recipe!!!
In a nutshell, beautiful views, nice food and this world needs nata!!
I must have mentioned before that I forgot my usb cable and my tablet battery was dead so I couldn't draw at all this week
... but once I came home I already started drawing again like crazy
I'll focus on the last Big4 comics and all the requests this week. I don't guarantee I'll finish everything before September but I'll put all my energy and the little spare time I have to do draw!!
